Weekend intensive classes

    Two-day classes:

  • Building a Shaker-type side table: Dimensioning raw lumber, making mortise and tenon joints, tapering legs, and planning and sequencing. Includes instruction on the table saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, and mortiser.

  • Building a bookcase: Constructing furniture with sheet goods, including materials handling, edgebanding, dado and biscuit joinery, sanding techniques for veneered panels, and planning and sequencing. Includes instruction on the table saw, biscuit jointer, and edgebander.

  • Introduction to veneering: How to cut, joint, tape, lay up, and press veneer using a vacuum press. Appropriate glues and different veneer-matching techniques will be discussed. Sanding and preparation for finishing are also covered.

    One-day class:

  • Router techniques: This seminar covers the router from start to finish. Feed direction, climb cutting, using a router table, using a power feed, joinery, and pattern routing applications will be demonstrated.
Time:        Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 to 6:00ish (call to schedule)

Location:  361 Stagg Street, Brooklyn, NY

Fee:         Two-day classes: $500 plus cost of materials. One-day class: $300. 50% deposit plus materials costs is payable in advance, and the balance is due at the beginning of the class. 50% deposit is non-refundable but purchased materials may be used for a future class.

What to bring: Tape measure, eye and ear protection, and a notepad and pen for taking notes.

Additional information:

- All participants are required to have full health insurance.

- Enrollment is limited to two to five students, depending on the class.
